She is good so im out of the woods about worrying. All the hens want out which is nuts. I guess they dont remember? Even the night it happened they wanted back out. I let my birds out of the pens for about an hour before sunset. If I dont, they have a big fit. I stay with them, usually cleaning the pens. There's been several times a hawk has flown over or up in the neighbors trees. Of course my birds are completely oblivious they're in danger. A broom is my friend. When they see the broom coming, they all haul butt to their respective pens LOL. Chickens have short memories, that can be a good thing AND a bad thing. I know one thing, they are walking stomachs and always looking for something to eat...no short memory there. Oh yeah, the broom too!

Ive been out with them for the past 2 hours and the dogs are out too. There is definitely something off with Louise, she is not quite right. She is eating and drinking, dusting too, but something is off about her

She is back with them yes, but watching her outside she is strange, she wouldnt eat any grass , and was walking around like a zombie. Its the best way to explain it. I stayed out side and was right next to her with my club in case the hawk showed up, like her bodyguard. She roamed part of the yard in a daze. It was very strange. When i picked her up a few times to move her to the coop she has raspy breathing. I was out with them most of the day, they were locked up and she was dust bathing in the dirt hole they dug, and she ate and drank when i put new food in the feeders and fresh water in. . But still a bit off. She didnt act like this before the attack thursday.

Do what you think is best ME. If she is cooped up with the others, do you think they would instinctively peck on her knowing she's "off?"

They were very good to her today, there was no pecking on her, in fact most of the hens were very protective of her. Making sure i wasnt there to bother her. I just checked on everyone and she is right with my ameracaunas snuggled up on the roost.. Ill monitor her and if anyone acts up ill remove her immediately

Maybe she's still recovering from something internal. I would say if she eats and drinks normal, poops normal, and doesn't appear to be deteriorating, she should be okay.

Polish is acting better. Been watching her closely. Today this really big red tail hawk was sitting on the fence post next to the goats. I got a few pics as i was walking toward it to get it to leave

wow, maybe a sling shot would help? You don't have to actually hit it, just get close enough to scare it (unless you want to hit it...that's up to you)

Ive never seen one this big. It probably said the goats were too big lol... the goats could have eaten the hawk lol... im thinking its a male, the other hawks have been smaller. It was in my neighbors yard today, and got some of her birds a few weeks ago

We've got them here, alot of them flying around lately screaming their heads off. I didnt get much sleep the other night. A great horned owl decided to perch in the neighbor's tree next door and started hooting and hollering...good grief.

I stand outside with a bat like a shepherd guarding the flock. Its the only way they can be loose. I wish i could paint all the light hens black so the hawk thinks they are crows
