ME, I would get the chickens that were killed by the hawk tattooed rather than the hawk lol The hawk lives in my pine trees lol. So he isnt going anywhere. The 2 fake owls arent working on the hawk nor starlings as they both figured out the owls are fake. When the dogs are outside the hawk has attacked as it doesnt care. Ill just not let the chickens out till spring. Their run is 20x40 plus the 10ft L section so its good for them. In honor of the asshole hawk im getting him tattooed on my lower leg tomorrow

That's horrible. Right in your yard? Unreal.
I wonder if putting up a replica of a large type hawk in the yard would keep the others away?

This is a red tail, when i had a red tail living in my trees it didnt bother the hens. This is the second time its sat in my yard just hanging out.. ill take it over the cooper hawk that has killed hens in previous years . Im just stumped as to why it sits in the yard. The cooper hawks this year have been super aggressive with attacks on alot of chickens all over nj. Everyone on the chicken fb groups are reporting alot of attacks more then normal.
On a better note i just looked out my office window and a juvenile eagle was sitting on my neighbors mailbox. I went to grab my cell to take a pic and it flew away:(

Wow! Eagle!
Your red tail could be injured or be an adolescent that forgot how to get home. Hopefully mom will remind him. I guess cooper hawks are bigger than red tails?
Boskelli, I'm glad you got the crows. Just feed them and they'll protect their source.
I have not seen anything flying here.
