One side of the barn needs some wood siding. I am lucky in one respect. Everyone installs those sliding barn doors in their home. Big fashion. Hah! My barn has one and no idea how old the thing is but it's in good shape! Really cool. It did have some aluminum "doors" on it but they're mangled.
I think I have fixed the rain running thru the barn and puddling on the other side.
I think I sold the house in Florida. The buyers were waiting on me giving them $1300 to fix the hot tub. The thing has a brand new motor and heat that works but is electric and takes about 90 minutes to warm up. Well the real estate agent spent half a day figuring out how to work it and it turns out that their inspector must have turned a knob that interfered with the hot tub working right. A$$hole! So the next day the RE agent showed the buyers how to work the hot tub. So things are moving along. They want to close on the 9th of April.
Can't wait to close because I'm out of money. And still have things to do outside.
Does anyone know anything about sanding wood cabinets?

I hate to see the house go.
I'm back to the river thru the barn. It's funny how sometimes figuring out diversions make other problems. I could scream. I will conquer this. My gutter is working well and whatever I put to divert part of the water has it draining thru my yard into the farmer's "pond" on the other side of the fence. I think I have to bite the bullet and redo the cement area in front of the barn and make the cement higher than the ground.
One other issue is that there is no privacy between the road and the chicken coop. I calculated out I need about 24-32 feet of 5 foot high privacy fence or something . It does not take much to block the view of the coop and ME working outside there.

Today we went to get hay. Well I thought I lived in the country. I don't , LOL. We drove 9 miles of sharp curves, hilly road, 5 different roads to turn on to. And finally got to the farmer's house. Then he says to follow him to his fields. He said only a mile but it was more like 3. The hay was in a loft in the barn and he had this thing to slide them down on. He loved to talk!
I never knew that people actually live back there! And lots of farms. 9 miles took us an hour. $5 a bale of hay is nothing! I've paid more in Florida like $10 a bail or more. It was quite an adventure!

You paid $10 a bale where you lived in Florida? It's $6.50 here, same up in Georgia.

Georgia was where the hay came from as well as some hay grown in florida . I think hay is related to where it comes from. Like in NY, the bales were the same price as Florida but they were Timothy/Alfalfa from Canada. If you bought Timothy/alfalfa in Florida it was about $18 a bale, where in NY it was about half that price.

Today I spent finishing hanging a gutter and making one of 2 doors for the barn. The gutter thing is a PIA. They are supposed to be easy to fit together but some pieces just don't play nice and I got the liquid nails out and plastered every joint. Now I'm waiting for it to dry before I hang the downspout. So I alternated between letting the paint dry on the door and letting the glue dry on the gutter.
I figured I'd be done with both but after 3 hours I just got too tired and couldn't get the very end done. I just gave out.

What a PIA! Well for the other side I'll know what to do. Less think time and more glue time. One door made. Next week I'll call the cement guy and get an estimate on concrete in front of the barn.

met a lady at starbuck's to sign my closing papers. Then I went to Kohl's to "save" money. I got 10 shirts and 4 pajama sets after discounts came to $130.00. I call that a bargain. A whole spring wordrobe !

I closed Friday. The buyers will close during this week.
I have to say this is an interesting place to live. I think I was in a rut in Florida like the same ole thing every day. All my dr. appointments are "across the river" in Louisville. It's still kind of exciting to cross over the great Ohio river. It's cool to say "I"m going to run into town" because we live 3 miles outside of town. It's hilly and super green here. Looks good.
Yesterday was a very long day. I had a bone scan so I had to be at the hospital at 10 am, get an injection, and come back after 3 hours for a one hour scan. How did I kill time? I went and got my hair cut. Then because I've been dying for fish, I went to Red Lobster alone and had a lunch feast of flounder and shrimp. Super enjoyable. Love those cheddar biscuits. Then took an hour nap. Worked out really well.
But hit some heavy traffic on the way home.

Today I go back to Louisville to the U of Louisville to see a doctor. Oh how I love navigating my way around in a city with one way streets and only having MapQuest directions. It's like an adventure I never asked for!
Closing was delayed and should be this week. I allowed the buyers to park their motor home on the property. Good or bad idea, they have 3 dogs and they did sign a waiver. They are probably as aggravated as I am. Their closing was a few weeks ago and they've been living in their motor home. I just want this to be over with. Time to move on.

Why was the closing delayed? Legal snag? An issue with your old house? That bites a bag!
Bone scan results?

The closing? I guess the title overlooked an error on one of the forms. You would think they'd do a better job. Hopefully this week!
I get the results of the bone scan tomorrow. Another trip into Louisville.
I had enough trips yesterday. Directions to University of Louisville in the middle of the city. All one way streets. I circled the block 5 times because it's 4-5 buildings not just 1. Finally pulled into a garage and figured someone could guide the way-was clear on the other side of the buildings and found out I had to look for the outpatient clinic. Afterwards I went to the garage and could not find my truck! I looked for an hour level by level and finally found it on level one! Long day going in circles. I'll do better next time.

Finally closed. I was ready to charge them daily for the extensions, ask Title company for a refund for sloppy service, fly down and live at the house and be a PIA, change mind, etc, whatever I could do to stop this BS.
The money was not an issue, I just wanted to get it done and over with.
This morning the realtor texts me that the well stopped working. The last 4 times it did it to us it was ants that were clogging the circuit contacts. I told her to check and she found a fried lizard instead!!! Kinda funny!

Making progress! One more phone call , out of 11. A crew came and mowed and trimmed the edges of our entire lawn. Today a guy came and measured for a concrete pad surrounding my barn on 2 sides, gave me an estimate and will start tomorrow. Yesterday I put a speed bump to divert the water coming down the driveway. Today I need to put some fence up. Maybe I'll take a nap first!

I put up a gate yesterday. I knew it would be a PIA and it was. 10 foot gate is quite a juggling act to get up. Then there's losing the nuts while working, things that won't tighten or loosen. But I did get it up. Today I took 2 Aleve, then it's back to work!
Hubs saw a hawk this morning!

finally got my cement pad around my barn. looks great! i'm working on a new fence to make a straight pathway from paddock to rest of yard. I bought a manure spreader. so I can spread fine crumbles over the whole yard regularly to get rid of the horse manure. I really don't have much of an area to have a manure pile.
now I have 3 hens that demand being held every day!
I started a new project. I have a 3 x 8 bathroom upstairs with severely slanted walls. I ordered a sink and toilet with much smaller footprints and will attempt to turn the toilet 90 degrees so you don't hit your knees. now I think i'll redo the floor.
