Since it's raining, went to visit my mom today. Every year when my sister visits from NY with her 2 teens, my mom gives them a few hundred dollars for spend money . But then complains the rest of the year about how fast they spend it and what they buy.
I keep telling her to go with them to ONE store at a time and just charge what they want and certainly that will be enough. But mother who whines all year about no one taking her shopping says she doesn't want to go shopping with them because it's too hard. Well, I can see whining about things , but hate it when people can fix a situation but doesn't , then whines the rest of the year.

Found my opportunity to run out, clean a pen, spray the hose-yard bug spray, lock the gang out for a bit, and put up a real perch. Then take all the rakin's to the new garden by wheelbarrow. I was soaked when I went in. My teashirt must have weighed a pound.

I set the 2 minnow traps again. I've already caught about 50 2-3" minnows and a dozen baby bluegill. Nothing like cleaning out some of the excess and spoiling the ducks at the same time 😁.

Not using them for fishing?
I spent this evening priming my new espresso machine and getting it ready to use. Complicated sucker! But it should get easier. Can't wait for a latte!

I just bought my first minnow trap.Haven't set it up yet but I want to go fishing and asked Dale earlier to go throw it out in the pond to see if we could catch some instead of buying them. Then I could throw any survivors back in the pond without worry instead of dumping them out to die, like you're suppose to do with store bought minnows. The pond is loaded with bass and brim, favorites of the catfish I go after and the bass Dale goes after.Win-win situation!!!

I put tore up bread and dog food for bait in the traps, works real well.

Thanks for the tip!!!I may throw it out later and see what happens.I didn't get it out yesterday,Dale had to work on the sump pump, again, but I made him buy a brand new one and hopefully that fixes that problem. He found a dead rat while he was under there so the new poison and/or the oat/Plaster of Paris concoction is working. An hour earlier,I lifted up a board and a rat ran over my foot,my almost bare foot.I was still having a hissy when he brought it up but it did make me feel better.

I baited the trap and threw it out in the pond. The neighbor kids went swimming back there shortly after throwing it out but when I checked it last night there was one 4" blue gill in there. The openings are larger than state regulation allows so I have to make them smaller or just use it in my pond, where there are no state regulations.I kind of expected to see it all chewed up by the geese but it was still intact last night. It was fun playing with my new toy!!!

It sounds like it has a pretty big opening to allow that big of a fish in it. I'm not sure just how big the openings on mine are but I'd say 1". About the biggest bluegill that ever got into mine was only about 2" long. Mine's made of wire so the ducks and geese can't hurt it,what's yours made of?

The openings are 3"-4".State regulations are 1" openings.I'm going to make the holes smaller. It's a net type material with wire frame and folds up to nothing.I paid $3.62 for it,including shipping, and you get what you pay for.LOL I'm just experimenting with it,I can always buy a better one if I like it.I always liked seining for minnows and catching crawdads and thought a trap would be fun, too.
