Did I tell you I was looking for one of those 1950's chrome and formica tables and chairs? It's tough because most people won't ship. I think I do want the "cracked glass pattern" table in gray and the chairs maybe in red. It's also hard to fine legs that are not rusty.

Did you corn the beef yourself?Did you smoke it?I'm getting ready to send Dale out to fire up the smoker for a rack of ribs.Right now I'm sitting here watching the geese. They found a way out yesterday and took the goslings across the street. They're headed that way now but the trail is blocked. The geese won't let me get near the babies but they found out I'm still the boss. It's been fun watching the group raise the babies.7 are involved and they chase 3 Romans away.I'm not sure why the 3 aren't involved. They had the babies in the pond swimming at a few days old.The mama hens have their babies running the yard, eating everything. After letting everybody raise their own babies this year,I don't think I'll ever raise them again. They do it much better and a lot less work. Agreed! I much prefer to let he broodies do all the work and they are so much better at it than me! Of course, I still have 5 broodies - the one who had the first chick has taken the chick from Mama#2 since she is still sitting on eggs, so the two chicks are tagging along behind Mama D'Uccle - so cute. Waiting for everyone else to hatch and get off the nests, it's driving the other girls crazy that they can't use their favorite nest boxes...

So glad to see old friends and friendly names on here! Thanks to boskelli for letting me know about this proboard! Good thing my DH is tech-savvy or I wouldn't have known how to get on and register here! Hey, after living over 7 decades on this planet I'm glad I can still type LOL!
My old temporary plastic fence:
My new sturdy wire fence looks better and gives us a better view:

Daughter is coming tomorrow , staying the day, and taking hubs back with her to Indiana. Hopefully he'll be gone a week (please) and maybe daughter will have a good dose of the hub's idiosyncrasies to last her for years.

The culinary arts are the only art I excel at.I try to stay away from processed foods and prefer to work with fresh ingredients. It's been several years since margarine has been in my house and that started the whole process, though I quit eating fast food in the early 90's.I like to know what I'm eating and be able to pronounce all of the ingredients and know what they actually are.A lot of chemicals in our food have been banned in other countries. Our government doesn't care so you have to. We eat as naturally as possible too. I fear for our future generations - they are fed a bunch of chemicals in the foods we buy, we are starting to see the results - autism, rise in childhood diabetes, heart disease etc. The FDA would have us believe it's b/c kids don't exercise - I think that is part of it, but it fails to address what is in our food. Just my opinion - sorry for the rant

Never be sorry for opinions. I just hate hearing "I found a cure", IMO. I feel it just leads people to a lot of disappointment, and self blame that they must have done it wrong.

I have bad news...we had 2 big t storms this morning, took out half my garden, I'm so depressed. Hail, strong winds, torrential rain, I could just cry. We needed rain so badly but not an entire season worth in one morning!

Are you kidding? That's terrible. I remember my daughter once dated someone who had a car with hail damage. Covered with golf ball sized dents.
Me and daughter spent this evening in the hot tub with some drinks. It was very nice but I think the water was too hot because sweat was running down my face. Her and hubs are leaving tomorrow. I'll bet that by the time they get to Indiana, she will be thoroughly drained by all the pee stops.

YES!!! Just as I had to acknowledge my age and look for help, I had a list of things I need to do , but golly gee it's a lot so I just do nothing. But this handyman we've used for the last 7 years showed up today after about a year and asked for work. Boy did I have work! He moved the old driveway red rocks to the back where they will become a "patio" outside my patio door. Great for chickens, I can just wash it down.
Then he's moving a mound of black rubber mulch from the front to back. He'll finish the last 3 pieces of vinyl fencing that hasn't gotten done. AND take down 410 feet of rooted wood fence that needs to go and also remove the wood left from an old barn that's just rotting. AND he might as well take that small coop down so I can replace it with a covered pen. So lots of work I was fooling myself that I could get it all done.

It is. I had a thought last night. I should get a dumpster for the guy. The poor guy would be making 10-20 trips to the dump with old wood. Too much.

Today's the day I go back up and see the Amish guy to see if any of the African Brown geese hatched,if so I'll get 2 more if possible. Hopefully nothing gets either of these or the other 1 I have. Hopefully at least 1 is a goose too,I don't need 3 ganders .

I find that male geese get along pretty well, maybe if they have a female each. I will enjoy it.

I had 2 ganders and they got along fine, maybe because they were brothers. But I'd like to have the ability to hatch some if possible, plus try eating a goose egg. Now if I wind up with 2 ganders and 1 goose, that could be a problem. I've got 3 drakes and 4 hens in ducks and the drakes are always chasing the other drakes off or there's 2 trying to breed 1 hen at the same time. Sometimes 1 drake will help hold the hen's head down while the other drake breeds it. Shoot,I saw the gander trying to breed a hen once . Another time a drake was breeding a hen and another drake tried to breed the drake while it was breeding the hen. In ducks anyway 1 drake can breed several hens and I wouldn't mind getting rid of a drake or 2 but I'm not sure about geese, they're probably the same though.

Sheesh, what a mess of a situation! I think my Sebastopol geese were much more layback than the others I had.
