Reunited and it feels so goood.... Mork back with his hens.. Sportin some serious spurs too He is the nicest temperment rooster, great with people and the hens. Bred with great show lines behind him. Too bad he is mixed. He is my RIR Langshan mix. Steinwand will be getting pure rir's from the woman who breeds show rirs and travels up and down the east coast showing that mork came from. Superb temperment birds.

Opened the door to the bigger run for the 13 chicks, raked the dirt all up. Tomorrow they will have a larger run. Tonight they put themselves to bed in the coop, they learn fast. Its enclosed on top so they should be ok

She looks fantastic! Such a cute little fluffball!! I wouldn't mind having a silkie or two but it's really hard to find them around here. Most everyone around here has the basic farm chickens (leghorns, barred rocks, americauna's etc etc)

Silkies are harder to get once you leave the east coast here for some reason. They really cant free range as they cant fly from predators. I stay with the group when i do let them out just in case. And they are not aggressive, they will get beat up by other breeds unless you raise everyone together. They are broody pretty much all year, some lay eggs a few times a year. They normally make excellent mother hens .
You can buy fertile eggs and hatch them, thats what alot of folks do

If I bought fertile eggs and hatched them, we all know that every single one of them would be a roo....
I know that there are some around here because I saw some being showed by a 4H'er at the fair but the kid was no where to be found at the time so I couldn't talk to him about them. They are just hard to find. I looked on Craig's list and someone had 1 roo for sale and someone else had some beautiful gold laced polish and a couple other non farm types.

I was just thinking about Groucho. Is he still behaving himself?

Groucho is looking like a she . Still roosts on the top roost in the run with a few others. I think all 3 breda chicks might be female, different tail set and no bright red wattles coming in yet so im keeping my fingers crossed
