Hi guys, I'm back from the wedding, the wedding was nice, it was great to see my family but the drive up and back was a nightmare of epic proportions. Tornado and so much rain that everyone sat on the side of the road with flashers on until it all passed (about 40 minutes), then heavy rain most of the rest of the way, it was horrendous, then on the way home, 5 hours straight of heavy heavy downpours, one after another. I'm exhausted. Very glad to be home.

Major flooding here today, it's been pouring buckets all day long, my entire yard, all of my runs, everything is standing in 6 inches of water, I discovered my muck boots have a hole in them my feet were squishing inside them lol. The ducks thought it was great that they got to go swimming in their run lol. The chicks...not big fans of water up their butts. The adult chickens just stayed in their house and watched their run fill up from the safety of the doorway. My trenches that I dug were completely useless. Boskelli, Thank you

I'm sorry to hear about the flooding Sylie. It was exactly like that last year here where we live. It poured rain practically every day for 3 months straight, record rainfall. Our yard flooded each day, except the chicken pens. I had previously added 3 cubic yards of sand into the pens and the chickens were high and dry. The gutters I jury rigged on the coops worked really well diverting water out into the yard. Now if you want, send us your rain. We need it because we are bone dry and we need cooling rains! Temps are 98-100 each day! UGH.

Dawg: Gladly, you can have all the rain you want just let me know exactly how to send it. I have considered sand, I've just heard that it can cause their crops to clog unless you get the right size and I'm not sure what the right size is lol I know play sand like for kids sand boxes is too small but just how much bigger does it need to be in order to be safe? We are going to put gutters on the duck and chick pens probably next payday. My husband was thinking about cutting some pvc pipes he has in the garage in half lengthwise to act as gutters so that wouldn't cost any money but I don't know how well that would work and it definitely would not fit the look we have going on the new duck coop lol. I need to get the pictures in here for you guys.
Anyway, we didn't get any rain today and it looks like no more rain until Saturday now. I hope they are right!

No rain again today! We're on a roll! all of the flood water is gone, now we are just left with mush. I have no clean or dry shoes anymore, don't even go there on the socks...omg my nice white socks are now gray/black from wearing my muck boots with holes. Looks like tomorrow will be nice too, just a 40% chance of scattered storms between 4 and 7 tomorrow afternoon.

Climate change is real . This weather has been changing . We never get tornados up here. Now its been a few over the last 6 years

Yeah, during our life time ME, it's getting hotter. Several generations from now when we're gone...it might be an ice again lol. Glad I wont be around to find out! In the meantime, I'm glad you are safe as well as Sylie. She lives in tornado alley if I'm not mistaken. I'll stick with the hurricanes, been through a few and at least you get plenty of warning, not so with tornadoes. My luck, one would drop down on top of me, no warning at all! YIKES!

Thanx Dawg, yes I live in Tornado Alley, we had one touch down and take out a couple of houses in the town next to ours but it didn't come here. My town hasn't had a tornado touch down in 63 yrs *knock on wood*. They have hit just about every town around us but we have what I affectionately refer to as a "bubble" over our town, the worst weather seems to go around us. I'm not complaining mind you, just saying, it's weird. As far as the weather getting hotter, in some places that may be true but you couldn't prove by us. We get about a week in the summer of 100+ days, it used to be that we would have high 90's and more all summer long from mid May to September but now, not so much. And this year, not even close, we still can't seem to get out of the 60's for more than 1 day every few weeks and even then it's only mid to upper 70's mostly. We have had 2 days so far in the mid 80's but they don't count lol.

We actually hit 80 degrees today! partly sunny, breezy so it didn't feel too bad. The ground is starting to dry out now. That's a relief, I worry about the chickens and ducks feet being in the wet all the time. I check them every day for signs of problems, so far I have been very lucky.

It's been beautiful here. Upper 70's and low 80's with partly cloudy skies and a breeze. The ground is completely dried out now. Nights are in the upper 50's. Perfect

Still in the mid to upper 90's and no rain. Our grass is parched. I dont know if the shrubs can hang on much longer without a good soaking rain. Our weatherguessers keep forecasting rain...where? Morons.

A little toasty today at 86 and sunny. Had to break out the fans for the chickens and ducks although the ducks don't go anywhere near their's they prefer to sit in the pool in the shade lol.
