I've been looking online locally for a 4x4 Ford or 4x4 Chevy truck. They are expensive, including used ones with high mileage. I finally found one at CarMax that I could afford. A 2016 4x4 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE with 14,000 miles. It had a clean history report with Carfax, no accidents etc...It used to be a lease truck and was maintained on a regular basis without any problems. It's still under warranty too. I traded in my 2 wheel drive 2014 Ford F-150 and 2007 Buick LaCrosse. CarMax gave me surprisingly good trade in values on both vehicles especially the LaCrosse. DEAL! I paid cash on the balance of the GMC, so no monthly payments. What I'll really miss about the F-150 was its long bed. The GMC has a 6.5' bed, but I can still haul sand in it for the chicken pens lol. Pics coming.

Love it! Looks like mine's twin. Except I have 2 wheel drive. This is my 4th chevy truck. 1st was in 1982.But I do feel the big 3 all make nice pickups.

I've owned two 2 wheel drive Ford trucks, and two Ford 4 wheel drive trucks with the manual lock in/lock out hubs. I had a Dodge Power Wagon, I'll never own a Dodge again. I've owned 2 Chevy trucks. One was a 2002 Chevy Silverado 2500HD 4x4 that I liked alot but sold it just before I moved from Georgia to Florida. The other was a Chevy 2 wheel drive truck. The two best trucks I've owned were the 2002 Chevy Silverado 2500HD 4x4 and the 1984 Ford F-250 4x4. I'll see how the GMC 4x4 does when I put it through its paces.

GM is a very nice truck too. Any of those 3. I'm just a pick up person. I don't know what it is but trucks are in my blood, LOL

I really like my mini vans but I think my next vehicle will be a truck.I'm tired of driving around with straw in the back and having to sweep it out.Plus,I'm limited with space and rolls of field fence,plywood/other building materials, etc are hard to haul in the back of a mini van.I'm still waiting for a rodent to come out of a bale of straw and run up my leg.LOL Country life is so different than city life and a truck is required,it's not like I'm a soccer mom hauling kids and equipment anymore.

Right CQ. We had a minivan when we had our younguns at home. I actually liked it and it served its purpose. Our younguns were grown and gone long ago, no more minivans for us. If you're going to get a truck, get a 4 wheel drive. You wont regret it and wont kick yourself in the butt for not getting one.

I love Fords and I don't mind Chevys, but in my mind Dodges are junk. I'd buy a Toyota before a Dodge and I've never owned a Foreign vehicle in my life.

Talk about Foreign. I had a Nissan Armada for 8 years down here. It was beautiful, full of power, never a problem. It just drank a lot of gas . But I'd take it back in a minute. It was a beautiful suv. They always had a bad writeup but I never had a problem except for peeling paint.

I've had my share of foreign cars too, no foreign trucks (gasp!) The best foreign car I had was an 06 Kia Spectra.

444lover, I miss those lock in/lock out hubs, so simple to use and none of the electronic crap. The F-250 I had, had lock in/lock out hubs and was a 4 speed manual w/ granny gear. It could get in the slick Georgia mud when hunting and drive on the beach with no problems, no mud tires neither. In the slick mud, I just floored it 4h and took off. I learned real quick to never stop or slow down once you get going through the mud lol.

True. Once when I was a kid, we drove from Utah north to Montana to the Canadian border and over to New York in a station wagon. In Montana we hit a few miles of mud and the alternative was to turn around and go back 100 miles. So dad let the car's idle just keep it going thru the mud and it was okay. How scary!

It's got vacuum operated automatic lockers and they don't work anymore so I'm going to replace them with the lock in/lock out lockers.

I am a Ford girl. My current truck? (I guess it's technically an suv) is an explorer, 1992 and it's on it's last legs, we are babying it along. I can only drive about 35 or 40 on good roads in it because of something I can't remember, something about the front wheel (something like a knuckle?) is so worn the joint or the knuckle is oblong instead of round and if I go over 40 it wobbles so bad that I can't keep it on the road. If I hit a bump at 35 or 40, forget it, I'm in the ditch. It's all electronic which I don't like, none of the windows go down, the locks don't work, the 4 wheel drive doesn't work because it's a button you push on the dash. The gas gauge doesn't work either But, for all of it's problems, we've beat the living snot out of it and it's come through for us more times than I can count. We had the clutch replaced a few years back but they screwed it up and it's never worked properly since. They also replaced the dash cluster trying to get the gas gauge to work and that's when the 4 wheel drive quit so they did something wrong there too. By the time we noticed it the following winter, the shop was closed down. They are no longer in business...big shocker! So some of it's issues are not it's own but because of a crappy mechanic.
Your new truck is awesome! I love the color too. I hope that you get many many good years out of it.

Be careful with those front ends Sylie. I had a tie rod drop off driving on I-95 in the F-250. Luckily it happened on a long curve and when turning the steering wheel, the front end wouldnt turn. I ended up going straight to the emergency lane and stopped. The tie rod was still attached on one end and the other end was dragging on the pavement. Phew!

Yeah, it makes me nervous to drive it and I'm always careful and aware of any changes to the sound, feel and way that it's driving.

Front end and brake problems are something you don't want to take chances on,if it's that bad I would either get it fixed or stop driving it,that's just opinion though. I've seen too many people wreck or about wreck and luckily got it stopped in time because of something breaking.

I tried suggesting to my husband that we stop driving it but he insists it's fine, just be careful, he doesn't have a license so depends on me to drive him to the store and whatnot so I have no choice in the matter, I do what he tells me or there are problems. That's why I'm so observant of how it feels while I'm driving, if something is different or worse or whatever, I make sure to tell him so he can see if it's worse enough that we HAVE to stop driving it. It's our only vehicle so our choices are limited on how to get the groceries home.
