We had another unbelievable deluge this afternoon and the lightning was bad. We lost power for 10 minutes, then again 20 minutes later for about 15 minutes. It's supposed to be mid to upper 90's tomorrow and Friday. Now we're gonna sweat it out for real. The good thing is that I got the yard mowed before the rains! Heheheheh. I would last about 30 secs in that humidity. I worked in Saudi Arabia for 3 yrs where it was 110-120s' - no problem b/c no humidity. The older I get the worse it gets.

Yeah I know how hot it can get over there, dry heat and you burn. I've been in the Gulf of Aden and Indian Ocean, seen plenty of sea snakes.

We got a little rain and it cooled off here, too, for now. Then back to the 90's and high humidity with no end in sight. If it's as bad as last week,I'm going to have to get the a/c out or get the hammocks/mosquito nets out and move behind the pond in the pines where it's 10-15 degrees cooler.I just can't take it this year,I must've really wimped out over winter.

Well CQ, we have a heat advisory today, 105 to 110 feel like temps... trade you? It was sweltering hot yesterday even though there was a light breeze. It was like hot air blowing around Fans will be on in both coops and pens today for sure. I'll say one thing, we needed the drying out from all the rains we've been having. Rain is back in the forecast Monday and Tuesday. We're driving down to Palatka, Florida today, about an hour away. I've never been there but my wife has years ago. I'm looking forward to it.

Today and tomorrow low 80's so I'm spending these 2 days cutting the grass.I usually cut it on the high setting to spare the clover and other little wildflowers but I'm cutting it short this time because it's going back to the 90's/high humidity Tue with no end in sight. The back gets no shade but the front does in the evening so I'm concentrating on the back.Got pine sap in my hair already this morning.I do this several times every year and by now(18 yrs now)you'd think I'd have learned to wear a hat/bandana this time of year.I'm sitting here with peanut butter in my hair and when I finish here,I'll heat it up with the hair dryer and comb it out.Best way to get it out without cutting it out.

Rain stopped play here - the coop is coming along nicely. I would have liked to spent more time on it today, but oh well - always tomorrow. Humidity hasn't broken - still sticky and miserable

Now our guessers are saying we'll be in the furnace all week with little or no rain. I'll take that with a grain of salt.

Serious lightning and thunder and rain. The flashing never stopped. Another big pop up storm. At least I didn't have to water.

I know Karen, you're right. I remember a long time ago cooler temps didnt show up until mid December. We had record heat in August through the first week in December. We had a drought and wildfires everywhere, smoke hung in the air ugh. I think it was in 2007-2010 time frame. Then in early January we got a dusting of snow!

Raining cats and dogs here, playing havoc with my satellite internet... I did get out to the birds during a semi-lull in the action. The coop is dry as can be, and everyone is content. The tractor, I'd put up a tarp on one side the other day (mostly for sun protection), the broilers are doing fine, too. Hungry. As usual.
Although I am wishing that the coop and tractor were closer to the house!!! Wasn't really going to be possible.

Yea I know. In the past years, it always seemed like we ended up moving right after 4th of July. Of course the hottest part of the year. Moving day was always hot as hell.
