That's what I'll miss the most. In Florida, I had tshirts and no socks. I could run out of the house for anything without worrying about the weather. Now I have several coats and sweaters, and it's hard to be in the habit of having to put all this stuff on to go outside. It's nuts. And I haven't seen mud in 14 years! Just think Karen, now you can run outside barefooted and wiggle your toes in the mud! Too bad you dont have a hog pen, that would make it even MORE FUN!!

I can usually get by with a t shirt and jeans when it's 40 ish but much lower and I start to feel chilly. I wear t shirts all year long but when it's below 42 ish, I wear a coat if I'm going to be outside for more than 15 or 20 minutes.

To console all you cold loving people, these people down here in Jacksonville wear shorts, tennis shoes and a hoodie during the winter...no matter HOW COLD it is. I think they are absolutely certified nuts. They must be transplanted yankees!

Today its cold. I think 26? Tonight going to 15 I've always brought my chickens in the garage when it got in the teens or low 20's. They simply wernt used to it (me neither.) The longest I had them in the garage was 3 nights. During the day it would warm up to 33 or 34 degrees and I'd let them out in the yard. This gave me time to clean the cages. It was excellent practice if we ever had to evacuate due to a big hurricane. The key to caging them is to put birds together who get along with each other. I learned this the first time I caged them and it took me several hours to figure out who got along with who. We're talking about 25 chickens too! Here's a pic of the cages I had at the time. I had quite a few, even some cages within a cage lol.

Dawg, hanging a few 250 watt heat bulbs, I've even done that without a coop at all.

Happy Thanksgiving! Today was a rare day, it was 57 degrees. Tomorrow is supposed to be 50 but rain all day then the temps take a dive and Sunday we are expecting 6+ inches of snow...what...the...heck? Of course, time will tell what we REALLY get. After all, I believe all of our weathermen read the same text book "Weather For Guessers" followed by the sequel "How To Guess The Weather". We had a nice day, lots of food to go around. Tomorrow I have even more family coming in so we will be doing the Thanksgiving dinner bit again tomorrow night. Good thing I cooked it all today, tomorrow will be a matter of warming everything up.
Hope you all had a nice day!

Happy belated Thanksgiving to you too Sylie, and everyone else here as well. It's currently raining here and our weathergyessers got it right for a change. Maybe there's hope for them after all. I happened to look at the NWS radar and Jacksonville is the only place in the whole eastern US where it's raining! Go figure, my luck!

It rained here all day. I had more family come in that couldn't make it for yesterday so I made a second Thanksgiving feast with all the trimmings again today. I'm exhausted! Tomorrow is supposed to be in the mid 50's and sunny. Sunday we are supposed to get snow. Now...yesterday they were saying we were going to get a foot of it, this morning it was down to 8 inches, this evening 5 inches and now I just checked again...3-5 soooooo, I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Maybe by Sunday we won't have any at all. That would suit me (and my ducks) just fine.

Thursday morning: 2 degrees F. Friday morning: Minus 1 degrees F.
It's 30 F right now out there and feels downright BALMY! (It was low 20's when I woke.)
