They could definitely use some rain/snow/slush in California to help with the wildfires out there, what a horrible thing going on.

They get mudslides if they get too much rain in California. They're going to run out of water one of these days without an rain or snow. They have water piped in from the mountains already. They should start building desalinization plants along the coast. They wont do it because of the liberals not wanting the environment disturbed and have many rules and regulations to prevent it from happening.

We're expecting the bottom to fall out of the thermometer tomorrow night with wind, mid 30's. (I know, I know...we're wimps when it gets cold lol.)

Let's see. Yesterday about 30. Last night about 28. Ice/snow storm this morning and some tree branches down. My chickens are in a coop for a few days now with a heater. It raises the temp 12 degrees, just taking the edge off. Everything has Icycles on it.

But I tell you, it feels cold enough to snow outside here this morning, and the wind is blowing making it feel much colder! We had the a/c on a couple days ago, now the heater is on!

We got hammered. Only due to state not being prepared.... really nj? .its winter... the weather people said we were going to get snow .... Around 8 inches, numerous accidents. Roads closed. The GWB was at a standstill. Took people i know between 3 hours to 7 hours to get home from work last night. Bill tarped the run yesterday before the storm started . Chickens are in the coop they are not liking the bit of snow in their run. I have food and water in there just in case they need it. Sun is now out and snow stopped.

Ice storm broke a branch that broke the wire on a section of fence. It was warmer today, 40's.

it was much warmer here today, mid 40's. a few days ago our lows were 11,13, 14. Heat lamps all around for night time. It brings the temp up to around 25 when it's that cold out.

How do yall handle that cold? My arthritis would be giving me fits! That was one of the 'cons' of us not moving to Tennessee.

Let's see. It was warmer today near 50's. All the chickens were put out with temp fencing. I was outside most of the day. Yeah!!! I found the outdoor faucet! I don't know how I missed it. The chickens get heat at night.

As for me, it does sometimes bother my arthritis but I don't have any severe issues with it no matter what, it's just more "oh my arthritis is acting up, bummer" kind of thing. Achy mostly. But here we just put on another layer (even layer gloves sometimes lol!) and get through one day at a time. Hot chocolate, another sweater, an extra pair of socks in the boots etc.

We ended up getting almost 4 inches of snow last night. I don't know when I have seen my ducks so displeased. They spent most of the day in their run voluntarily where there is no snow. They would venture out for short periods and eat some of the snow then right back into the run. Tomorrow is supposed to be 38 and partly sunny so we'll likely lose most if not all of it, I'll have happy ducks again! The padlock on the chicken's "people" door was frozen shut this morning, I had to take a bowl of boiling water out there and hold it up so that the lock was soaking in it to get the coop open lol. I guess that's the breaks of living in the midwest!

When I lived in Virginia years ago I had to pour hot water on the key lock to open the car door, not fun. I forgot to add that it was a nice day yesterday. I smoked some ribs and pork and beans in the smoker, mmmmmm they were good! It's foggy outside this morning.

That's what I'll miss the most. In Florida, I had tshirts and no socks. I could run out of the house for anything without worrying about the weather. Now I have several coats and sweaters, and it's hard to be in the habit of having to put all this stuff on to go outside. It's nuts. And I haven't seen mud in 14 years!
