Hi all - I have been trying to post pictures without any luck. I keep getting the message over 1mb too big. They are only general pics nothing fancy - what am I doing wrong?

Hi all - I have been trying to post pictures without any luck. I keep getting the message over 1mb too big. They are only general pics nothing fancy - what am I doing wrong? Click "Add Attachment." Then click "Add files." Then click "Pictures." Then click the folder you want to get the pic from. Then RIGHT click mouse over the pic you want to post. Then left click "Resize Pictures." Then click the box, "Make pictures smaller but not larger." Then click "OK." Then another picture will appear and it will say (small) under it, left click it, then click "Open." It then goes back to the "Add Attachment" box and uploads the pic. Then click "Insert." You pic will then be posted. It seems like a pain in the neck and it is. I had to do this in another forum a long time ago, so it came back to me kinda sorta quickly. Once you do it few times, you'll get used to it and it wont take long to post pics. Besides, I can tell you're already half way there lol. Good luck Sue. |

It's not so bad if you've got your routine down. I guess because this board is free they can limit the amount of upload somewhat. But the little pics do click on big. Thanks Dawg! Will try!

I did finally get a pic to load, but it seemed like it took forever to fugure out - even with your instructions!

Lets give this a shot...  Okay, i got it in here but not by Dawg's instructions, I did not have the "Resize pictures" option. I clicked "edit" and then "resize" and entered 25 in the horizontal box and then save, had to tell it where to save it at and then came back and did the "add attachment routine all over again. What a pain in the patoot! I took this picture yesterday, it's at the lake at the park near me that I wanted to have the chicken forum get together at. isn't it pretty??!! I love sitting in the shelter house that is right behind me in this picture and just relaxing, watching the critters come and go. |

Dawg, following your directions leads me to Paint where I can resize but never know how many pixels I'll end up with so it's kind of hit and miss to get the mb right.
This forum allows only a certain amount of free space. It claims to be able to buy more space but I can't find the link anywhere.
I'll try the Imgur and see . Or search for an app that can do it automatically. ME says she has luck with tapatalk.

Easy. Go to picresize.com . It asks for your file/picture on your computer. Click and be brought to your pics on your computer. Click on a pic and click "open".
Your pic is now on picresize.com . Scroll to the bottom and you can pic a size in KB's and put in 99 kbytes. Okay . Now the pic goes back to your computer. Mine went to downloads. Yours may go there or pictures.
Now you can go to ckf and go about your business.
ps. 99 kbytes is sortof like 1 mbyte.
It's best to copy any instructions out on paper so you don't have to go back and forth.

How do you get Imgur pics posted here? I'm still interested in Imgur. I think getting around the system may be to "link" a picture, not necessarily download it here forever. A link means the pic is not on this forum, just leads to the pic wherever it may be. If you delete the pic where it is (it's source), it disappears from the forum as well. I may be wrong but any picture not on your laptop and needs a http//.. (url) is a link not a download of a picture. So the forum does not count that as using space. But if you move those pictures wherever they are, the link is broken and the picture disappears from the forum. I think I'm explaining it well. If I'm not, let me know. It's best to copy instructions out on paper . This way you don't have to click back and forth. |

I think I understand what you are saying, the only problem is, all of my pictures are in "pictures" or similar folders that I cannot see the url for because they are physically on my hard drive, not on the internet. I don't know how to find a url for pictures that are on my computer with no url.

Yea, the url's are when you have your pics on flicker or photo....
Otherwise it's 1 mb pics.

The address for Imgur is imgur.com/? . Once you get an account set up and upload your picture. Go to "images", click on the picture you want and this will appear.
Just click on the "copy" button for the "BBCode (message boards & forums)" and then go to your post on here and paste it,that's it. No having to put it between the ![]() [.img] ![]() & [/img] things or click on the "insert image" button at the top of your post or anything because Imgur adds that in the URL you already copied,see (I put a dash and dot in it so it would show) [img-]https://i.imgur.com/lTtYhR7.jpg[./img] ![]() ,but the picture will show up.
