Does anyone know of any legitimate, low or no cost ways to make money from home? Serious money, like, to live off of. My husband was injured at work last week and we have some bills coming up that we just won't be able to pay, I need something I can do until his job decides to stop being stupid and start his workers comp. It's complicated to explain but the insurance lady at work is on vacation and refuses to do anything until she gets back, she is the only one who can do what needs doing apparently and by the time she gets back, he will have 2 weeks of lost pay plus whatever time it takes her to get the claim filed and then for it all to get sorted and whatever. I don't know. I am not looking for a get rich quick thing but something I can do on the computer like data entry or something. I'm so afraid of getting scammed, I just thought maybe one of you would know something I could do for a while until we get some sort of income going again.

He can file directly with the workers comp carrier if he knows who it is. By law the employer must post notices up in the office from the workers comp carrier that has their name and policy number and phone number

Technically I believe he's supposed to be able to but the lady that handles that is on vacation this week. When the foreman called her to ask her about this she said "he'll have to wait until I get back to work on Monday" The foreman then mentioned that the doctor ordered an MRI to be done ASAP and she said "he can wait until I get back for that too". She is in charge of insurance and everything associated in this way (workers comp, health insurance, work insurance, life insurance etc) and is apparently the only person employed by this company that can do it so we really have no choice but to wait for her and hope that she will be cooperative and file workers comp and approve his MRI. Because of these problems with her, my husband is considering going back to work immediately because we cannot afford for him to be off at all let alone any longer than he has been.

He is supposed to go through the insurance/HR lady so that's what he's going to do. Ty for the advice, I'll ask him if he can go in and look for this notice. It's rather a small company and causing waves by circumventing the "rules" is usually not in a person's best interest if they want to keep their job.

Ugh thats not good. Technically a wc claim must be reported immediately

ME, you're right. But I was under the impression that the employee had to report the injury immediately so that the company can file the claim. Not that the claim had to be filed immediately, I have no experience with WC, this is just my understanding, as limited as it is. We are just going to have to wait until she comes back on Monday I guess. My husband talked to one of the owners and he couldn't help, he said that's Deb's job to know all of this stuff....yippee

Technically if its reported 2 weeks late the insurance carrier doesnt like that(im.in insurance ). All wc claims should be reported immediately, same day or the latest next day. If the employee needs a dr or medical care it must be reported asap, not 2 weeks later.

Most employees report wc claims directky to the insurance carrier if the injury is bad and if they will be out of work. . You dont have to wait for the HR person...

We did go check that out today (looking for the poster or information on the carrier) and couldn't find anything, we asked the other office girl about it (receptionist) and she has never seen anything like that. We looked around the plant and the foreman's office and nothing. My husband talked to one of the owners and he said his claim has to be reported through the company, it will be denied if he reports directly. Something about proper channels, at that point I was frustrated and stopped listening to the convo lol.
We'll just have to wait it out and see what the lady says on Monday.
On the bright side, my husband is feeling a lot better today, he even walked around the yard and gave the ducks some peas (he is now their best friend! haha)

I don't know what would happen in that case, I guess things still have to go through their channels no matter how serious the injury. I have decided that worrying about it isn't going to change anything and I can't get caught up in the negative of the situation. We'll just take things as they come and hope for the best. I'm still going to look for some kind of work I can do from home though, if for no other reason than to have a "nest egg". (haha, get it, chicken forum..nest egg...hahahaha)

House cleaning earns good fast money. Maybe advertise and get some houses to clean? Pet sitting/dog walking too

Well, the verdict is in on WC...no dice. They said he wasn't out long enough to qualify (he was out for a week and a half) Plus, she said that he disqualified himself by going to the ER instead of waiting until she got back from vacation and could make him appointment with the company doctor....wth? If I had my way, my husband would be looking for a new job.

If he was having a heart attack or bleeding out profusely....waiting for her to come back from vacation? Nonsense. Smoke and mirrors.

Dawg, I think if it were life threatening, they would have made an exception lol but for an injured back, he was supposed to see the company doctor first apparently. The man couldn't breathe he was in so much pain, he couldn't walk, he couldn't do anything but he was supposed to wait 5 days for her to get off vacation. oooookay....
ME, I wasn't in on the meeting with HR, I just know what my husband told me when he came out of the meeting. As far as I know, it's what the HR person told him and the claim did not go to the WC people.
Sue, I have some writing experience but nothing published at this point, I have 2 manuscripts waiting for money to be published. I have tried self publishing but you have to have special software to convert to mobi or whatever and I can't afford that. As for blogging, I do have a couple of blogs but have no clue how to make money from them. Maybe I should research that.
