You gotta do what you gotta do. I know giving injections is the best route for quicker results. I dont trust myself giving injections. As with wormers like Valbazen and Safeguard, I prefer to give meds the oral route.

That's the Mexican version of SMZ-TMP. I buy it from Revival Animal Health, no script needed.

I've been having good luck with cutting from the top. And using wonder dust to stop bleeding and antibiotic properties.

I donated my head Barred Rock hen to the feed store for resale yesterday for severe bullying the other two BR hens. This has been going on for awhile and separating her from the flock for a few days didnt help, nor did duct taping her toes and legs in order to break her from attacking the other two hens. Yesterday was the last straw when she went totally berserk relentlessly attacking the other two hens. Now there is peace and quiet in the BR pen. Both hens are in full blown molt partly due to the stress caused by the bully hen.

I didnt like having to get rid of her, she was a good layer. All three of them (two now) are almost 6 years old. That said, it's certainly peaceful in the Barred Rock pen today!

I'm lucky to have hens that get along. They only bully the ducks and they do it with a scary ferocity. I keep them separated at all times for that reason but when the ducks are in their pen and the chickens are out they will walk along the fence between the yard and the duck pen with their wings out intimidating the poor ducks who are plastered to the back wall hahaha. I honestly think someone named them wrong....the ducks are bigger chickens than the chickens.

With feathered legs I just Vaseline them from bottom to top. If there's mites, I sprinkle a bit of sevin or poultry powder on them. They are hard to check. I have this roo (probably) elvis (lol his hair) (Also looks a lot like your avatar) and its really hard to take care of feathered legs. he just runs around in his own excrement and comes back to me all muddy and.. well... covered in crap lol. I wonder who else just pops their legs in a bowl of warm water and scrubs their legs clean? Or is it just me...….

Iodine is very good. I use betadine. Definitely. It works wonders on chickens as well as quails (I used to have this quail who could fly even though I clipped her wings) and she used to scrape her legs. I washed them and dabbed betadine on her legs and keep her in the house cage for one night so it doesn't get infected. I love betadine.
