Boskelli, good for you! End the guessing game! I've heard that LL can be eradicated from a flock and is easy to kill with disinfectant. It's also passed thru mother to egg.
Chickenlady, I think bigger operations have problems with more virulent strains because they treat so many batch after batch. I think backyarders have mostly the classic regular one since the vaccinating works so well on small flocks.
