I have a 10 year old blind Polish that has been surviving nicely with a friend hen who has led her around and showed her food etc. So Goldy did very well for these last 2 years. Lately she lost weight and is down to probably less than a pound.
Since blind , she never got a treat. She would not see it or take it from me. But today I held a piece of watermelon and after pecking air about 10 times, she got a bite of watermelon! She pecked air an awful lot but actually at a piece that was 1 x 1.5 inch piece. I'm so glad she got a good treat.

Today she ate about an inch square of watermelon again. And made that purring noise! I just want her last days to be happy ones. (I am so weird)

I don't think that's weird at all! I'm so happy that she got to eat more watermelon today.
