Here's pics of a coop I built just before the city passed the chicken ordinance here in Jax. I built it and painted it at our previous house. When we moved into our current house, I couldnt take the coop from our old house, it was too heavy to move. No one wanted it, even for free on Craigslist. It wouldve taken a small army and a mess cook to move it. There was no way to get a trailer in the back yard neither. So, I used my rip saw and cut it up and deposed of it for trash collection
I kept the nest box as well as the fence posts, chicken wire, hardware cloth, pavers and ramp. It took me several days to dismantle the pen, then transport it over to our current house. The nest box is now attached to my main coop and I added on to it just before I got the new chicks a few months ago.
In the first pic, you can see the painted over hinges on the front right side of the coop. It's a swing door to open for easy coop clean out. The nest boxes are kitchen cabinets from Habitat for Humanity restore. They open up for easy nest box clean out and egg collection. I'm all for easy solutions to clean out coops, saves time and helps keep birds healthy. I think I cut the vents in this coop too small honestly, but they are covered with hardware cloth and screen to keep predators and bugs out at night. I even mounted a small fan inside the coop to blow air out a vent. The fan is currently mounted in my small coop where the BR's are housed, with bigger vents I might add.
This coop looks good IMO; but I prefer to build coops that are higher up off the ground, that I can easily expand, and build more sturdy to withstand hurricanes.
