The silkie .... I have been hearing little crow like noises all week.. well he belted one out this morning while i was feeding my birds... He has been in the living for weeks now so i know its him. i had a feeling it was a male due to the rust on its wings

Sorry it's a boy for you but I have 6 silkie roos and love them all. I have 2 in with 3 hens.

I love roosters but close quarters crowing grates my nerves, if I had the space to where I could listen and not have a nervous breakdown and also lived where it wouldn't tick off the neighbors, I'd have a bunch of roos. I'm sorry that your little silkie is a roo

He is going back to my friend tomorrow. I have enough roosters. Plus someone tried a few crows in the growout pen .. i think it the big polish/breda mix.

Polish/Breda may be a winner as one who gets along.

The silkie rooster was returned yesterday. The polish breda one i think might be the one, and one of the other chicks too. Today was rough on them, the heat and humidity did a number on all my chickens.

I think the easiest and cheapest is still running a hose on the ground and making a large puddle. Really attracts them and cools them off.
