Hey Finders keepers. Some hardware cloth and you're ready to go!
My handiman will take my small green coop in one piece. The those three lucky ones will have an enclosed pen like everyone else with a tarp and nest box. I just don't think we have enough cool nights to actually need a coop.

The only thing I dont like about "open" coops as I call them...with hardware cloth all around them is mosquitos and flies. I guess cheap flexible screen all the way around would help, but not on the bottom. The poop needs to drop through the hardware cloth onto the ground. Alot of people around here have coops like that and they usually vaccinate their bird for fowl pox.
With all this rain we're having, it makes me wonder if the mosquitos havnt sucked all the blood out of their chickens. Then there's the flies, they are terrible with all this rain.
I hung sticky fly strips around the coop and several of them have gobs of flies on them. I need to replace them. One of my BR's got her butt feathers and leg wrapped up in one from jumping up and trying to eat the flies stuck in the sticky fly strip. It was funny watching her walking around with the fly strip stuck on her. It looked like she had a tail lol.
She let me pick her up and I managed to remove the fly strip...minus some fluff and a few feathers.

LOL I've had to remove a fly strip from a chicken more than once.

LOL. One time my friend had to rescue her horse's face.
I do spray the area around the pens with yard spray. But the rain is horrible. The spray really works cause I used to get alot on me. No pox this year-yet.
My poop lands under the roosts and I rake it up. The flies have been bad. Hopefully the n yard spray will help if it stops raining. I'd like to build little 3 sided coop shelters with a covered roof.
