I have 4 muscovy ducks. I love them. I had 4 of those a year ago last fall, little ones, but a rat killed 2 of them and I had trouble with the other 2 hurting each other and other ducks I had so I gave them to 1 of my neighbors. He didn't have them long and turned around and gave them to another 1 of my neighbors. With the trouble I had with them I'm not getting anymore but I'm glad you love yours, they are a different breed for sure.

I have not had any issues except that they don't get along with my chickens. Mine aren't little anymore, so they could probably fight a rat.

I have 1 absolutely amazing cayuga duck and 2 snotty khaki campbell's lol My cayuga follows me all over the place waiting for pats (and hoping I have peas) and loves to sit on my lap, she also hugs me now and then by laying her head on my shoulder.

Probably 😀,they've got attitudes. My chickens are just as ornery. I try to tell them if they just behave, they would have more room to run around. But, no it has to turn into a Jurassic park kung fu fight.

Well it ends up those 2 new geese I got aren't African Browns after all, they're either Canadian geese or Cackling geese or maybe a cross with the African Browns, but they look a lot like Canadian geese.

Clip their wings after they molt to prevent them from flying. Is The African happy now?It looks happy and the three do look a little alike. They blend well.

I'd hate to try and catch them and hold them while I'm clipping their wings,it would be a 2 man job. I hated clipping my cockatiel's wings,it was hard for me to even do that. To do it right you need to hold them on their backs so you can see the secondary feathers and on a goose I can about imagine the difficulty . Yeah the African Brown seems happy, they hardly ever split up,they follow each other everywhere. On a rare occasion the African Brown will wander off with the ducks and leave the Canadian/Cackling geese at the pond, but they don't seem to mind.

Yeah,I thought about how hard it would be to clip a goose's wings if you could catch them.I have exotic birds, too, have had to clip their wings in the past.I was thinking it would be at least a 2 man job.One of my geese is a loner.Camellia pretty much stays by herself. She goes to the pond alone, sleeps alone-usually under the window I sit at and she'll occasionally holler to make sure I'm still here but if I'm slow to answer back she starts to have a hissy. She stays apart from the gaggle though sometimes she'll hang out with 2 other Romans for a short time.I feel bad for her but she wants nothing to do with me except to know I'm here.

I've got 1 duck that way,she stays by the building and hides in the grown up area at the fence row. There's 1 drake that hangs out with her some but she doesn't go near the pond and a lot of times if she is sitting in the edge of the yard,as soon as she sees me she goes into the weeds. There's been a couple evenings now, that when I'm putting them in,I can't scare her out of there,so she stays outside by herself. I'm done getting all scratched up from briers and thorns,so for now on,if she's not in the yard and goes in with the rest of them, she'll be staying outside by herself. A coyote might get her,but that's her choice. I may sound like a mean ass,but I'm tired of getting all tore up over a stubborn duck.

You don't sound mean,I'd probably do the same thing. At least it's smart enough to stay in thorns, that offers a little protection. After training everybody where they sleep,I won't go chasing the stubborn ones who refuse. They're on their own.Like the geese, they know where their shelter is but refuse to use it.They sleep out in the yard, where they want.I figure I did my job,now it's up to them to do theirs.
