No all the power. And my sister made a large pot of sauce and sausages for dinner that we wanted to keep hot while she boiled up some pasta, so we worried about having no pasta.

Oh that's not good. Did the pasta work out?
I keep a propane camp stove on hand so I can cook while the power is out around here, our electric company is really bad at maintaining their lines so we lose power frequently. I have back ups for all of our vital appliances. A gas lamp in each room except the bedrooms, I use the deep freeze for a fridge when necessary (the power has only ever been out long enough to need the deep freezer 3 or 4 times in the past 6 yrs). Water in gallon jugs (10 gallons), etc etc. We live in town so they usually get the power back on within a few hours.

I don't know how it is outside today. I'm stuck on the couch letting a booboo heal.

Awwww!!!Did they have to remove a large area and did they go deep? That's a bad spot for an open wound.I think I'd just hang out in my boxers until it scabbed over good.It was suppose to be hot/humid today but it's overcast and not too bad and it may rain.I haven't even gotten a little warm today much less start sweating.I should be out weeding the rest of the garden but don't feel like it.I already have most of our fishing equipment in the car and the more I think about it,the more I want to go fishing. If the rain holds off,I'm outta here later this afternoon. The catfish are waiting.........

Weather: It is within range for heat for this time of year, mid 80's. But high humidity and if one is directly in the sun, I feel seriously unwell. (I like to say that coconut oil melts at 78 degrees, and so do I... so maybe I'm made from coconut oil???)

There were thunderstorms all around us today and we only got a couple of drops of rain heheh. I've got a feeling we're going to pay for it this week, frogs are croaking everywhere.

it was upper 80's today with very high humidity. We had a really nice, gentle rain this afternoon. It lasted about 10 minutes, came down hard enough to soak the ground but not torrential. No lightning, no thunder, no wind, just a beautiful rain. I'm pretty sure there was just so much humidity that it started coming down as rain. o.O

High 80s predicted today, with high humidity.
Chickens will get a watermelon treat today.
Tomorrow heavy thunderstorms (and rain?) predicted. (We do need the rain, for crops if nothing else.)
I need to add central air here.

artemis, don't feel too bad. I lived in li ny and never had air till I was 35. that was the norm. window fans. we did add a whole house fan vented into the attic drawing air and it did a great job. in the late afternoon, cooler air sucking in all the windows.

I'm 53 y o and have never had ac except for my very first apartment and then I discovered I didn't like it.I use fans all through the house, like Sem,and it works for the most part. The heat doesn't bother me much unless it's really hot for long periods.I have an ac window unit for the bedroom but I've only used it once in 18 yrs, back in 2013.I use strategically placed fans,a lot of fans, but it creates a nice wind tunnel of cool air in the house even though the house is in the middle of a big field with no shade. It gets a little warm late afternoon/early evening but it's tolerable if it's just for a few days.I agree about the sun,it's intolerable to be out long in the afternoon/evening.Earlier this year,I cut the front grass about 2 pm,took about an hour but the sun drained me,an actual physical draining, and I never experienced anything like that before.I don't do anything outside for long periods between 1-6 pm now.I know I'm getting old but I'm not THAT old,so it's the sun's fault, not mine......

Yea. I've not learned to work and avoid the peak hours. I'm anal and when I want to do something, nothing stands in the way. But, I work in the shade, rest in the shade, and drink cold drinks. The biggest problem is sweat in my eyes but I use a sweatband now. I usually end up going out at 3pm and mostly working until the sun goes down. I feel like I have a shower and a hot (cool) tub. Problem here in Florida is when the evenings don't cool off. Not even 10 degrees.
You're not that old!

Getting out at 3pm and working is the worst time Karen, that's when it's the hottest. I start as early as possible, sometimes 6:30am during the week and finish yard work by noon or 1pm at the latest....before the storms start too. I learned to use TWO sweatbands at once! It works lol.
CQ, you're a youngster!

I know it's better in the morning but I'm not a morning person and get stuck in the afternoons, but mostly get that late afternoon breeze.
