This is a tiny town (compared to some), we have 1 hardware store and it only sells a few weird, exotic plants (literally like 10 plants in the whole store, no joke). Otherwise, we have a sad, worthless Wal Mart. In the spring when the plants come out for sale, they sell 90 percent flowers (marigolds and the like), barely any herbs and a few years ago they had a few fruit trees but they didn't sell so they didn't get anymore in. I think Orscheln's had fruit trees and a few scraggly flower plants last year. Maybe I can find spider plants on line

There are 3 Walmarts within 5 miles of us. Everyone of them go full speed in January and February getting all sorts of plants/trees in, alot of different herbs as well. Unfortunately most of the plants and fruit trees they bring in cant survive our hot temps that lasts from spring to late fall. Newcomers and northern folks unknowingly buy alot of unsurvivable plants, it's a money maker for Walmart.

I prefer Legustrum 'green' bushes. They are hearty, grow fast and can handle the heat. They dont lose leaves in the winter neither. They make a great privacy hedge. But you have to keep them trimmed or they'll grow every which way. We had them when I lived in Virginia, they did great there too.

I suppose in Florida you have more options since you don't have the deep cold that we do. I looked at Wal Mart.com and they have a 3 inch pot spider plant for 49 cents...the problem is the shipping is 8.59 o.O There's a problem there somewhere. A 6 inch pot for 5.50 with 10.59 shipping. Do all plants have stupid kinds of shipping costs?

OH, since this is the weather post hahaha...today was super nice out, sunny, 40 degrees, a lot of snow melted and ice too. But now it's raining and the temp is dropping. I sure hope this winter ends soon, I am just done with the ice.

Sylie, maybe I can ship you some of my spider plant babies. I'll go to the post office this morning and ask them if there are any special shipping requirements. I really dont think there are honestly. I can pack them in damp paper towels wrapped in wax paper or something similar and send them to you. I'll get back with you later. If all goes well, I'll let you know and you can PM me your address.

The mud is disgusting. My gdaughter cleaned my house and I worked on a fence. So my chicken area has a gate now. I had to put one post in. The "auger" I got sure is tough. I hit some rock and the thing almost took my arms off. OMG!!! That's got some power! But then it started thundering and raining and I had to pack everything up real quick. It is so nice when everything is right where you need it. Posts, auger, tools, wire fencing. By the time I was done, each boot weighed about 20 pounds from all the gooey mud stuck to them. This mud just doesn't let go!

Oh I wouldn't worry about it Dawg, I appreciate the offer but it just costs too much to mail things these days, I can live without a spider plant, I just think they are really cool plants and it would be fun to have one someday. I don't want you to go to the trouble or expense.

I don't want you to go to the trouble or expense. I was checking them out yesterday and I have quite a few spider babies ready to be transplanted. Cost isnt an issue and the post office is five blocks from us lol. I want nothing in return. If you change your mind, just let me know and I'll be happy to mail you some.

Our high was 16 today, windchill sat at -7 most of the day, thank goodness for heated water bowls! Last year, when I didn't have them, it was a nightmare!
