Sexing chicks is difficult unless they are auto sexed (legbars) or sex linked (red sex links). Normally females grow feathers faster then males, with wing , shoulder and tail feathers growing fast. Males usually feather out super slow, with tail feathers taking the longest. Normally.... Then you take 2 different breeds and all normal ways gets thrown to the wind. Example: I bred my RIR/langshan rooster to my olive egger and 3 australorps. I got thick chunky chicks from the olive egger pairing and normal leg chicks from the australorp pairing.... This chick screams male EXCEPT its comb... which is pink and just starting to grow. Its feathering very slow, like a male. Tail feathers are now coming in. Still not fully feathered like its siblings (there are 4 thick chicks with very prominent combs). Her legs are thick and chunky.(and have a bit of feathering) I always have to wait until 4 months old with the Rir/langshan x olive egger pairing due to this
