Out my backyard window!!!

A neighbor knocked on my door to tell me a cow was calving close by me.  I see her behind some trees and jump on my mule and drive up to the farmer (Jim) and let him know and we chatted so long that the calf was born before I got back home.

I like being this 1 acre farmer surrounded by a real farmer who loves to chat. He's got cows in several different areas in the neighborhood. It's funny to me since my chickens are really treated like pets and his cow gives birth in a pasture , 40 degrees, rainy, and by herself and no one thinks it's a big deal. These pics must be like 10 minutes after birth. I hope to see her back with the herd with baby.

Thats so awesome. Every now and then i get to see the dairy cows a block away give birth in the field. I feel bad for them and know the farmer will eventually find the babies and take them away from their mothers.
