My daughter asked me how I know chickens are happy. Ha. Great question. I told her when they're outside doing peck peck scratch scratch, that is sheer happiness to them. I could add sharing a dust bath!

I could add sharing a dust bath! I love to listen to them when they are dust bathing - I think they just mutter and gossip when they are have a 'spa' day

Sometimes at night or early morning before sunrise when I go out to the coop, I hear them "cooing" or "twilling." I love hearing it. That is a sign of contentment. Contentment is happiness and satisfaction. I have a saying,"happy hens lay happy eggs." LOL.

I've heard you talk about the cooing before. I'll have to listen to mine.

Awww. I'm afraid to let the chickens out today. Got to cover an area with wire. I have so much to do I don't know where to start.
