One silkie has a crusty growth on her head. I can't think of anything it could be except pox. Which is strange with the amount of bug spray I've put into the ground, area, and chickens. I just don't know.

Maybe she scratched herself due to the stick tight fleas? Or maybe a over amorous rooster grabbing her head while treading.

Well it's definitely a pox. One large one. I have pictures but will post later. I put some super antibiotic stuff on it and then triple antibiotic. I've seen they recommend iodine so I'll get that.
Remember I had a terrible case on one rooster a few years ago, like 3-4 years ago. No one else. I just can't imagine a mosquito bite thru all the bug spray she's been having on her. Seems the contagious part is the pock itself so I figure I'll keep that plastered with lots of goop.

Well my silkie has one pox that is about 1/2 inch high and almost 1/4 inch thick. Please don't hold me to the size. I will continue to iodine it. After I touch it my hands get wiped with Lysol toilet bowl wipes. Kills everything, lol.
It's real hard to know what to do, iodine or 3x abx ointment.

After I touch it my hands get wiped with Lysol toilet bowl wipes. Kills everything, lol. It's real hard to know what to do, iodine or 3x abx ointment. Iodine kills everything; bacteria, virus, fungus, protozoa etc... It'll shrink the nodule with continued treatment, then should drop off or disappear altogether. |
