Should happen in November. I bought wire crates for 22 chickens, 2-4 in a crate with good room. It's a 12 hour trip.
I also bought 5 lbs of freeze dried worms. I'll also be giving them vitamins from here on out.
I think I'll worm them now.
They will be in the back of my pick up with a bed cover over them vented on each end. I'll stop and offer water.
I'll need to take food and scratch with me. And their bowls and buckets.
I'm happy there is already fenced off areas for the chickens, and a shed/coop. Next to it there's a thick treed area that's 40x40. I have 12 or more outdoor extension cords, a few really heavy duty since the shed/coop is about 50-75 feet from the house and probably electric. I also have about 200 feet of hose . I also bought some flood lamp bulbs.
I also broke down and bought a sealed heater. I don't want to heat a coop. But I have Polish and silkies and worry about real cold and like the idea of just taking the edge off the cold when needed. I'm glad they'll all be in the same coop I'm glad I'll fly up for closing. I can get some things situated beforehand.
Big move. I'll have to have the horse shipped. At least she has a temporary shelter already there. And the farmer neighbor offered to put up fencing which gives the horse a paddock.

Worming before you move is an excellent idea. If any of your birds currently have worms, at least after worming them you wont have worry about worm eggs contaminating their "new" soil at your new property. Do you think you'll need heated waterers up there?

Do you think you'll need heated waterers up there? Yes that's for sure. But probably not til after Christmas if I'm lucky.

Not much I can do with the cold. My plan is to bring some electric fence with me and maybe the heater and extension cords because I'll get there at night - I think. I can check them in for free . (bring them if I fly up to close).
