I wanted to plant cabbage this year but ran out of garden space lol! My yellow squash, acorn squash, turban squash are all coming along, slowly. My zucchini are going wild, I have 8 zucchini on 6 plants. My pie pumpkin plants are taller than I am (we have them growing up on a fence) and starting to sprawl. Everything is just going along very nicely. I need to plant 2nd round of carrots and beets now.

My two Juliet tomato plants have grown huge but not producing alot of tomatoes like 2 years ago, and the leaves and stems are turning yellow at the bottom of both plants. I know why. TOO MUCH RAIN. I pull the suckers and pluck the yellow leaves and stems. I've read about Juliets and they require alot of sun like most tomato plants. They are in an area where it's sunny too. We've gotten several tomatoes off them and they dont quite look right but I know they are edible. It's partly cloudy in the mornings and rain anywhere from noon into late evening each day. Not a way to grow tomatoes.

Not a way to grow tomatoes. You don't necessarily need to pull suckers off, or at least, not all of them, some kinds of tomato plants do better if you leave them on. If you over prune them, it can reduce your yield but so can leaving them on, it depends on the kind of tomato plant. If the plant is small and compact or gives small fruit, you don't need to prune. (Juliets do not need pruning, if you feel like you MUST prune, just pull off a couple suckers on each plant). I never prune my cherry tomatoes, roma's or any of my small varieties. Only my Big Boy, Beefsteak etc.

My squash and melons are still in cups on the porch.I really need to get the squash in the ground but I spent yesterday cleaning/de-bugging coops and Sat weeding/watering.It's been raining all morning so it probably won't get done today. If it was a little warmer,I'd do it in the rain but it's kinda chilly today. The big farmers are still trying to get their fields planted so I'm still ok but it's almost the middle of June and time is running out fast. The squash are getting blooms out there and are probably root bound by now.

Well my first lavender plant is dying from fungus or mildew. I guess it didn't like florida.
I measured out my first raised bed. That should be fun.

Borax is a natural anti-fungal.Try some of that to stop the spread of it.

See, this is where we need an "I'm sorry" button or something of that sort. I don't want to click like because I don't like that you are having trouble with your lavender. So.. I'm sorry for your lavender fungus problem

Okay I have some borax somewhere. I worry about the 6 little new plants I got and if they catch it. Hubs brought me home a rosemary plant! Pretty good. Do I fertilize it?

I don't fertilize mine and they do fine but I would suggest a really good potting soil, don't put it in the ground. Rosemary does not like "wet feet" so don't over water it.

The lavender is dead and I'll have to discard it with a plastic bag because of the other 6 little plants I got. They like poor Sandy soil and minimal watering. Full sun and low humidity. One thing I can do is plant them on a Sandy high spot in the yard and see how it goes.
Gosh in ny, I had lots of lavender with no problem.
Yea! I have a squash to eat and little tomatoes forming! I grew them from seed. A real non disappointment. And I have a bunch of eggplant seedlings coming up-but far less than how many seeds I used.
I started my first 6x6 box garden. It'll be 11 inches high above alot of chicken crap compost as a base. I think i'll do something like use ornamental plants as a base and fill in spaces with daylilies because they don't bloom all year. And small nursery perinneals that need to grow and divide. I still have some Shasta daisy seeds and cosmos seeds. Also catmint. So I can have something in the boxes looking good at all times.

Marigolds planted around your garden repel a lot of pests AND they flower.

I plant marigolds heavily around my tomatoes, tomato hornworms will leave your tomatoes alone that way. I haven't had any in years since I started planting the marigolds.

Well my first lavender plant is dying from fungus or mildew. I guess it didn't like florida. I measured out my first raised bed. That should be fun. What time do you water your plants? It's best to water early in the day so it has time to dry out, cutting down a lot of mold, mildew and fungus growth.I love my catmint so much,I ordered 6 more and 6 butterfly bushes to plant between the front porch and side walk. The 2 I bought last year are magnificent, attracting lots of honey bees, bumble bees and butterflies.I haven't seen any hummingbirds yet but they'll be here.I still need to till up 4 squash plots but it's too hot.Plus,I have a young rooster terrorizing my hens and everyday I discover a new bald hen everyday so today I clean the goose house that the geese don't use anymore and in he goes, along with the cockerals as soon as I figure the babies out.I've got plans for them in the fall and maybe some of my older hens, too. How do the older hens taste?

You are right. I was watering in the evening. I will change that.
I was going to use my new hedge trimmer today, but it was 95--so I went back in the house. : (

Okay so in the 95 degree heat and humidity , of course I go in the back and do 1/2 of the 1/2 acre with the hedge trimmer on all those nasty tall weeds. Then went back and flagged the property line on one side. Boy did I pay for that. I was so over heated and my eyes burned from the sweat.
So far I've had a pile of red rock moved in the back to make a patio. Black rubber mulch moved to the back, 2 panels of fence put up, 410 feet of rotted 2 rail fence removed and carted away, now they are working on a pile of rotted barn wood to cart away. I'll need the guy to tear down a small coop but not now. There's just so much that was on my list of things I thought I could get done but I was kidding myself. The back half acre has nice trees already growing and one actual arborvitae which don't even grow down here!
I kept telling myself not to fall into the gopher turtle hole but guess what. I did. Took a while to get up. It will be great to have a whole 1/2 acre for the chickens to free range. Maybe they can all come out peacefully. And if my horse ever comes home she will have her pasture back as well.
Yard is coming along nice. I'll be darned if I'm going to move. And my daughter in southern Indiana had 100 degree weather already. The record here in spring hill was actually back in the 80's and 90's when it hit 100 degrees. Aside from that, since then we have never hit 100. The norm is 95. The horrible highs are 97.
