New pen

I had to make a new pen for my 2 Houdans because the handyman carted out the rotted little coop I had . Everything takes longer than you think it will. Especially putting up hardware cloth. Then I realize I'm out of staples for my compressor gun. And the bigger one has rusted. So I'm waiting for staples. In the interim I'm putting up hardware cloth with screws that have metal and rubber side washers that can easily be taken down when the wire is stapled. Hubs made the door. The pen enclosure ended up being less than 50 feet of 4' hardware cloth.
It's really nice that as I wait for the staples I have everything pre cut, I have all the other hardware and wood framed out, the hardware cloth is pinned in place. Not much more. Hopefully will get done by tomorrow.

I enjoy building chicken pens/special projects lol. What staples are you using? I use fencing nails for chicken wire, hardware cloth and aprons.

I use these 1.5 inch long, 1/4 inch wide staples that are not going to dissuade a bear but will do for the varmits around here. I also have a larger one but it's rusted and needs to be tried out. So I can't pull it off myself. Something would have to be stronger than me.
I love your staples. I think they came out with an actual compressor gun for those big ones. I am piss poor at hammering and have carpal tunnel so I can't hammer away and need some compression or a drill to get things done.

I do it the old fashioned way, hammer them in one by one lol. I've hit my thumb with the hammer a few times, it really hurts worse in cold weather OWWWW! LOL. Sometimes I use needle nose pliers to hold them in place while I hammer it in, mostly the small ones.

I use needle nose pliers for everything, nails, staples, all of it. It's a lot easier than my fat old fingers!

my father was a carpenter when I was young, he built more houses from the ground up than I can even imagine trying to count, he taught me that trick.
