I have had nice successes with all the roosters I've had in 10 years. And I've had lots and lots from Polish to Jerseys and one BO roo.
I have this Polish roo (my avatar will be changed) that just does not get it. He's a year old now and been behavior modified for a good 8 months. My behavior modification is to talk roo as an alpha to a rooster who is a lowly pee-on. However, he doesn't get it. A week after getting it he forgets again. So I have been grabbing him and holding him upside down if he comes at me and that doesn't work either. He's so stupid. I may have to rehome him for someone's dinner.
I love my chickens. . Sometimes I love them because they show attention to me without having food. Sometimes I love them because of their personality. Some of mine like me but don't like being held. The sweetest chicken I ever had did not like being held. (She died of aspergillosis, my first lab necropsy).
I am not liking a roo who can't show some respect. He's otherwise very likeable and very easy to catch. But I have 6 silkie roos who behave themselves .
I am very sorry for him but he attacks me and he has 2 girls with bare backs. I've just had far too many roos that behaved themselves and were as tall as my knee.

Too funny,Dawg!!!Some roos aren't cut out for a quiet flock life. They all have that fighting gene and sometimes it shows itself more.If you want to keep him,I'd give him another month or two to see if he calms down and go from there. They all mature at different rates.I love my chickens for the same reasons as you, their individuality, but some you just can't get through to.

Why do these things always happen to your favorites?

I don't know. I think we're naturally attracted to those who need the attention .

I would take the poor little baby but sadly I can’t. Rehome him somewhere nice. Roosters don’t understand, it’s like a baby attacks you, but they don’t understand! You should rehome him because your hens are going to get hurt soon, but rehome him into a good home.

well he went to the feed store who takes roosters. I told them his situation and he should be sold as a meat bird. Sadly that's reality.

Yea, I cry too. But if he doesn't let hens eat, I have no where to put him.
