I keep telling myself will paint today, will paint today, will paint today, will paint today, will paint today,
Yesterday the chicken pens got a new tarp. 16 ft x 20 ft. These tarps in FL don't last long with the sun and rain.

I usually buy the silver in color tarps since they are thicker, I think 9ml or 10ml. If I get a years use out of them, I'm happy. The ones from Lowe's and Walmart dont last long at all. I've had better luck with the ones from TSC. They also have thicker ones that are a different color, and very expensive. I havnt bought any of those yet because of the cost. I bought a silver one from Harbor Freight Monday. I intend to use it this fall. I'll let you now how well it holds up. A couple months ago Harbor Freight had 6'x8' blue tarps on sale for for $1.99 each. I think I bought about 20 of them. You can never have enough tarps IMO, they come in handy for anything.

I always buy the heavy duty tarps,silver/black,and they last a couple of years.I put new ones on the coop every fall, black side up, and the used ones get repurposed, like covering the grow out pen-silver side ,lawn mower, etc. The blue tarps don't last long with our winters but the heavy duty work well.I can usually find the 16'x20' for under $20.

The one I got is really thick. But you're right Dawg. If I get more than a year I'm lucky. Florida beats the hell out of them.

The el cheapo blue tarps are great for dropping down over the sides of chicken pens. I use small bungee cords to keep them in place even if it's very windy. They easily prevent sideways driven rains or slanted rains from flooding pens during thunderstorms. If you have a small pen, they also help keep feed dry in feeders from getting wet or damp from slanted rains. Unfortunately my tarps have been dropped for 3 months due to all the rain. I think I've rolled them up only twice. Today will be number 3 if it doesnt rain. I rolled the tarps up early this morning because the guessers said there was a slight chance of rain (yeah right.) It's very hot, sunny and humid outside right now but I saw cumulus clouds building earlier when I walked the dog, so here we go.
