THEY WILL BE ADDING WINDOWS TO THEIR BROILER HOUSES!!!!!
They claim sunlight is important to a chicken's mental and physical health.
(and these discoveries are made by multimillionaires when they could get the advice for free right here on CKF!!!!!!)

I say we make a list , then send it to Perdue. A list of low cost quality improvements to send them free of charge. Keep your suggestions numbered .
1. If they can't be outside, at least give them a daily rotation to an outer yard. 2. Provide music at nap times (yes they have nap times, my chickens nap at 10 am and 5pm)

I read somewhere they only get layer feed - they needs treats once or twice a day

That's true. Give them something to look forward to.

A happy chicken will do better overall whether its a layer or meat bird, I agree with treats and being outside, windows are awesome and I'm happy they are doing that but what about fresh air, being able to nibble grass? All of the things that make a chicken happy? I think Perdue should be commended for the things that they already do for their birds but they could be doing more and I would be happy to pay a little extra if I knew the meat was coming from chickens that had everything they should have and were happy. Does that make sense?

It makes sense. But with these greedy people it needs to be cheap ideas.

yeah I get that. but credit where it's due...at least Perdue is making an effort. I don't see Tyson doing these things or feeding their chickens herbs to keep them healthy. I know big business is built on greed and greed is a horrible thing, it stops being about "making a living" and turns to greed, it's awful.

Believe it or not, Taco Bell started improvements several years ago.

Mine may as well, but they hear me coming and get up, if indeed they're napping! I am hoping my wind chimes provide sufficient music.

Haha. Good one. Yea, I've spent so many many hours hanging with the chickens that I've learned so much about their behavior. Roosters that trick hens into coming closer but also warm their nests. And I used to take a lot of pics and the easiest to take them was around 10 and 5 because they were all resty-nappy.

I've never paid attention to whether or not mine have a nap time, I'll have to start watching.

I guess Taco Bell uses eggs. I think there are several companies with Taco Bell under the Dow Symbol YUM.
