New breda chicks

I got a new rooster from boskelli a few months back that is distantly related to my hens. We met in NY which was a halfway point.
I set 17 eggs. 11 were fertile. I wanted to see if this new rooster was fertile as he was having an uncoordinated time trying to breed the hens.
All remaining 11 eggs were fertile and growing. 5 hatched so far. 6 remaining pipped , one seems DOA but im not doing anything since they all pipped.

So these 5 hatched yesterday and during last night.

All my hens are black with one mottled hen and one cuckoo hen.. . My mottled line cant make it past 2 years old. I was hoping new blood albit distant related would help . .
I wont know what colors these chicks will be for a few months yet.

Tails are coming in. A few have more advanced tails then others so im gonna go with the wispy tail are males and the more developed are females lol...some have more wingfeather development too. So ill guess females for the better wing development feathers

Wow, so cute. At that age they look so similar to my houdans. I'm chick'd out at the moment. Chicks need to move off the porch, but I want to keep them quarantined and the porch is the only sufficient place.

They will probably be moved to my empty coop in a few weeks once fully feathered. The brooder they are in now is huge, so im safe for a bit lol

I think they are deliberately slowing my hot spot down so it's not usable. So I'll be on spotty for a few days.

Thanks Sue. Alot of them are getting red wattles lol. So far 3 have redder wattles...6 have the same tail set and look a bit rooish

I'm sorry that I can't help you with tails ME lol I'm so bad at gender guessing. but attitude wise, the far left looks like he means business. The 3 on the right are trying to make you think you are seeing triple. hehe

If that's not cute, nothing is cute! We never get tired of babies! If I had to get chicks it would have to be from Maria's blue jerseys. She actually doesn't live far from me.
