Sylie, no apology needed and you wernt snippy at all. I can tell you are a very good person, please dont worry about it. I've had rough days as well and Karen can attest to that especially when we were both over at BYC. My chickens wont eat slugs. However my Barred Rocks dont hesitate to jump up along the privacy fence and snack on a small snail that's in one of those small shells. I guees the shells are like Cheetos to them, crunchy LOL. I do worry about that because snails are vectors for flukes and other nasties. MY BR's will tear up a toad in a heartbeat and run with it all over the yard with me chasing them with the broom. You guys already know that toads secrete a poison from their warts and if it gets in the eyes, it can cause blindness. Chickens have very few taste buds, that's why they can eat the gross things we wouldnt touch with a ten foot pole lol. They are walking stomachs. After eating, they poop the waste two hours latter. When I lived in Georgia, I had a hen get very sick from eating a blue/purpleish striped skink. I found out that they are toxic to chickens when eaten. My hen recovered after being sick for several days. Needless to say, whenever I saw one of those skinks, I killed it and disposed of it in the garbage can. Here's a pic of the skink I found on the internet. Thank you for being gracious and forgiving and thank you for the compliment. Cheetos hahahahahahaha! I almost spit my tea all over my screen! I don't have many of those critters around here. Very few frogs or toads venture into my yard, a few years ago we had a slug problem but not since. No skinks or any other type of lizards here unless they are pets. (I used to keep lizards, had 20 green and brown anoles at one point as well as a 4 ft long Iguana, she was amazingly awesome, she died of a tumor on her leg). So I have no idea if my chickens or ducks would eat those or not.

My chickens must have more taste buds than normal. One loves wine, but not crazy about beer. Soda is a maybe. But I think it has a lot to do with their sense of smell as well.

ME, it doesnt burn, it's the smell. You dont want to be walking around smelling like Pine Sol for a week or longer lol. Dont cut it with anything, it may lose effectiveness. Shake the tube well before applying it. If you dont, it'll be like applying a paste and it's tough to apply in that manner. When applied to the chicken legs/feet, it stays. The sulpher, pine oil and mineral oil smother and kill the mites quickly. Put it on roosts too. The mites crawl unseen from one bird to another. Sometimes I have some left over. I put the tube in a zip lock bag and put it away with my other chicken stuff. I make sure the bag is air tight.

Ah gotcha. He is on my porch in a rabbit cage. I used permitherin on the roosts in the coop when i took all the birds out. Ill wipe them down to. The tubes are to arrive tomorrow. Im so lucky he likes to be held. Handling a large heavy rooster can be difficult if they dont like to be held lol. He enjoyed his bath and loves all the attention.

It's unfortunate that they can breed hens to be egg laying machines but can't breed roos that don't crow. It certainly would increase their popularity. It really can't be that hard if someone's serious and they would make a whole lot of money.
It would involve a lot of culling. However, the crowers could be grown out and given to a partner who can process and sell the meat-as long as I don't.

So do i totally gunk his legs or wipe the nu stock on lightly? Mork rarely crows, and whenhe does it sounds like a man clearing his throat, its not a crow at all

If I had the space and lived where I could have as many chickens as I wanted to, I would definitely attempt that!
