I Have tried and tried to make a crop bra that stays on my Creve, but she gets out of them all. I just can`t make one work and there is only 1 pictured online anywhere. Anyone have imaginative ideas?

Take a real bra and modify it?

I wish. I even tried a surgical mask. I also wish there was a way to see what that lump is inside. She's starving, and I'm thinking blockage but it feels so hard and round there's no way to mold it or change the shape.

Could she have worms in her crop or some grass stuck? Or do you think its a tumor? Or maybe sand? My friends silkie kept eating so much sand her crop was hard like a rock.

Interesting. We both kindof think it's a tumor because it's almost perfectly round, it's moveable to a point like held on to something, and has the consistency of an eyeball for lack of a better word. Then there's the outer pendulous thing that hangs down farther than this tumor/crop. I've tried messaging but it doesn't mold like clay. So I'm at the point where I try a crop bra again, let her starve, cull her or take her to the vet. I have a bottle of bourbon on the way that's 80 proof (40%). I also have a roll of 3/4 inch elastic coming which I'll try to make a square holding the area with a bit of stretch in the middle, and a bag of clamp on snaps so I can put a lot on and really customize the fit and the elastic won't cut into her skin. I'm dragging my feet to do anything.
Creves are not a breed to get into. Small gene pool. Tophats that do well are Houdans and Polish. Houdans are chicken size and lay chicken size eggs and lay well between breaks. I find them docile. The other I've had luck with is old type Polish, WCB or WCBlue or Buff laced. The fancy colored ones did not do well.
So that's where I'm at.

Ugh. Then it might be a tumor:(

True, not smart, LOL. My psycho attacks me like she's a rooster but loves being held and rocked. Go figure. I got elastic and snaps in the mail, so she got a custom pooch with snaps for adjustment. Earlier I also tubed her 30 ml and I could not get it back up, it stayed down but I don't know where. I was trying to figure out where the crop was. Here's her new crop bra.

did you try the velcro number?

I tried Velcro and all I did was get a bunch of feathers stuck on the sticky side. So the snaps are great and easy to press on. So she looks good and it did not move out of place for 24 hours so far.

She seems like she's doing better. The crop bra has not moved out of position at all. It's snug where it should be. I've been giving her 40 ml of ensure 2x a day so far and it goes down fine.

Well this adjustable crop bra is still in place. However, the hen has lost an inch of body size. And she's real light. I'm not sure anything else can be done. I feel like if I continue to tube feed her, when I stop she'll just go downhill again. I think it's time for some Bourbon but I'm really dragging my feet. It's never easy. Decisions are never easy. Especially after taking care of them. But I hate to see a chicken starve to death and know that they're starving to death. I don't think she can make it up the step into the coop anymore. I hate this more than anything. Especially the second guessing I do.

I tried Velcro. But the sticky side sticks to their feathers and rips them out. I'm tired of things that rip feathers out. Snaps are super super easy and don't stick to feathers. I puckered the material sewing it on to elastic. It stays on really nice and looks comfortable. Maybe on a smaller bird like mine it's harder to keep a crop bra in place. I also put small pleats on the sides to hold it on the crop. I should try to sell a few or even customer test this type. But I have to figure out a way to get a measurement system for a good fit.

If you have found a way to correctly fit(extra sets of snaps like our bras to adjust tightness) and design a crop bra that works well, you ought to do it.You can help other chickens and maybe make a little money, too.

CQ, absolutely. I think about it. It would fit much better than the only choice available out there.
I recently ordered and received a few bottles of Bourbon. I never had it and many programs on tv have people drinking bourbon like it's the drink of choice. Well it was ung_dly horrible. And odd taste mixed with pure alcohol. I cannot understand it. So the bottles went in the cabinet for chicken funerals. It's about 40% alcohol and I imagine anywhere from 40-50 ml should do it based on weight. If they're not demised after that, they are looped enough to decapitate or you can give them more. Sad, but death by alcohol seems to be the least violent way other taking them to the vet , spending $40 and having to take them out of their own environment. I think Mariska is not going to last much longer. She's been pooing "lime/bright green for a week now. I will terribly miss her. She's been with me 10.5 years. But the life of luxury.

Ms crop bra. The bra stays on and doesn't move. So it works great. But I don't think she's thriving. But she actually took a dust bath yesterday!

I had to put a GLW down a couple of days ago,so I feel your pain but you only have Mariska's best interests at heart.I remember taking care of hospice patients actively dying, only to suffer for days or weeks. Not eating/drinking and in pain, the lucky ones were medicated heavily around the clock. Not a good way to end your life.I don't make those decisions lightly but I don't want to see them suffer needlessly, either.

I have never had to put a chicken down, I have taken a cat and a dog to the vet to be put down and that was bad enough. I am not looking forward to the day when I have to end a life myself. It gives me the shakes to think about.
